Tuesday session

48:12

Recording. Put your phone down and talk.

You leave therapy with something that matters.
By next week, most of it has gone.

Lota keeps the whole conversation,
and pulls out the parts that mattered.

I think what I keep coming back to is that saying no to her doesn't make me a bad daughter. It just makes me someone with limits.

What you get back after every session.

The session, sorted by what mattered. Your summary groups the conversation by the topics you actually covered, so the important parts take a minute to reread.

Session summary grouped into Processing emotions and Relationship dynamics

Made for the week between sessions.

Therapy is one hour. Most of the work happens in the days after, and that's where Lota stays with you.

  1. A phone resting on a side table beside an armchair in a calm therapy room
    Recording · 48:12

    In the room

Press record, then put your phone down.

Ask your therapist first. Then you can stop scribbling notes and simply be in the conversation.

  2. Someone reading their phone by a tram window at dusk
    Summary ready

    On the way home

Read it while it still feels close.

Your transcript and summary arrive soon after you stop recording, organised by what you talked about.

  3. A person at a kitchen table in morning light recording a voice note
    Reflection · 2 min

    Midweek

    Keep the thread going.

Answer a reflection prompt, tick off a goal, or record a quick voice note when something clicks.

  4. Someone sitting on steps outside a building, glancing at their phone before an appointment
    3 themes this month

    Before the next one

Walk in knowing where to start.

Look back at your themes and goals, so the next hour picks up where the last one left off.

What you say in therapy stays yours.

A therapy session is one of the most private conversations you'll have. Lota is built to treat it that way.

How Lota protects your privacy
  • It stays on your phone

Your sessions, transcripts and chat history live on your phone, not on our servers.

  • Processed in the EU, then deleted

Recordings are processed in Frankfurt and deleted as soon as your phone has the result.

  • Delete it all, any time

Delete a single session, or everything including your account, from Settings.

  • Share only on purpose

Send a summary or a goal to someone you trust, only when you choose to.

Lota supports your therapy. It doesn't diagnose or treat, and it isn't a substitute for professional care.

Why Dr Chris Onyema built Lota

“As an NHS doctor, I see how much of an important conversation is lost by the time someone gets home. I built Lota so the work people do in therapy stays with them between sessions, privately, on their own phone.”

Do I need my therapist's permission to record?

Always ask first, and explain that it's so you can remember the session. If they'd rather you didn't, record your own reflection straight afterwards instead.

Can I use it without recording the session itself?

Yes. Plenty of people record a few minutes of their own thoughts after therapy, or between sessions. You can also upload audio you've already recorded.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your sessions, transcripts and chat history live on your phone. When Lota processes a recording, it's handled on servers in the EU and deleted as soon as you have the result. We never sell your data or let anyone train AI on it. The privacy policy has the details.

How accurate are the transcripts?

Transcripts are highly accurate and labelled by speaker, but results depend on audio quality, accents and background noise. Keeping the phone between you and your therapist helps.

Can I delete everything?

Yes. Delete a single session from inside the app, or delete everything in Settings to erase Lota's data from your phone and close your account.

Is Lota a replacement for therapy?

No. It's a tool for remembering and reflecting, not medical or therapeutic advice. If you're in crisis, contact your local emergency services.
